A group of St Kilda players have been cited by the Match Review Panel following a spiteful encounter with Fremantle at Domain Stadium on Sunday.
St Kilda defenders Jimmy Webster, Jake Carlisle and Dylan Roberton have all been charged following the melee in the second quarter of the nine-point win.
Webster has also been charged for making unnecessary contact in the eye region of Fremantle’s Nick Suban and can accept a two-game suspension with an early guilty plea after the MRP assessed the incident as intentional contact with medium impact to the head.
After being reported for striking Dockers small forward Hayden Ballantyne on the day, star midfielder Jack Steven can accept a $1500 sanction with an early guilty plea.
The incident in the second quarter was classified as intentional conduct with low impact to the body and given it is Steven’s second classifiable offence, an early guilty plea can reduce the fine from $2500.
Key defender Carlisle has been charged with instigating the melee during the second quarter and can accept a $1500 fine with an early guilty plea.
The former Essendon backman has also been fined $1500 for a second offence for engaging in a melee.
Roberton was charged by the MRP with a first offence for engaging in a melee and can accept a $1000 sanction with an early guilty plea.
