St Kilda superstar Nick Riewoldt has been rewarded for his brilliant return against the Brisbane Lions, earning a maximum amount of votes from Alan Richardson and Chris Fagan on Sunday.

After missing the trip to Perth last weekend, the 34-year-old produced a dominant display at Etihad Stadium, helping the Saints to their first victory of the year by 31-points.

Riewoldt finished with 28 possessions – the second most of any Saint – a game-high 12 marks, five inside 50s and booted three goals in a captivating performance.

Veteran Saint Leigh Montagna also featured prominently, collecting seven votes along with Brisbane half-back Daniel Rich.

Montagna, 33, accumulated 30 disposals at an efficiency rate of 83.3 per cent, nine marks, seven inside 50s, six rebound 50s and four tackles. He also amassed 753 metres gained – the third most of any player in Round 3.

St Kilda midfielder Luke Dunstan (two votes), Brisbane ruckman Stefan Martin (two votes), Saints key forward Tim Membrey (one vote) and versatile tall defender Dylan Roberton (one vote) all featured in the votes from the coaches.

After three rounds, Port Adelaide inside midfielder Ollie Wines leads the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year prize on 24 votes, one vote ahead of Richmond game breaker Dustin Martin, while last year’s Brownlow medallist Patrick Dangerfield sits in third place on 19 votes.
