ST KILDA has one of the toughest runs home of any AFL club but it could end up being a vital learning tool.

In the last six weeks of the season the Saints have taken on Geelong and Hawthorn, with the Sydney Swans and Fremantle still to come.

While that might be seen as difficult, especially for a club that has only won three games this season, the Saints firmly believe it is the ideal way to finish off the season according to forward Adam Schneider.

“We know it is a tough challenge and we are not hiding away from that. We are just here to keep focusing on what we have been focusing on,” Schneider said.

“That is to finish the year strong and get the young guys out and amongst it and keep playing some good footy. We are building towards the end of the year and next year as well so we have to make sure we come out and do the right thing and keep building.”

The Saints have a big challenge on their hands on Sunday with the Sydney Swans at the SCG but Schneider said the exposure to the best teams in the AFL would help the youthful Saints team.

“You look at blokes like Hannebery, Jarrad McVeigh and Keiren Jack and Josh Kennedy – to play 10-20 games against quality players like that, that is how you make a career,” Schneider said.

“If you beat a player like that you can learn a few things off them as well. The good players tend to take you to the footy and make you a better footy player anyway so it is a good opportunity for those guys.

“The Swans are one of the powerhouses of the AFL right now and have been for a few years so it is going to be a great challenge for us and we are really looking forward to it.”
