St Kilda General Manager of Player List, Ameet Bains, has outlined that the Saints will have four selections in the 2011 Rookie Draft which will be held on the 13th December.

Following a fruitful National Draft last week, where the Saints secured a combination of midfield and forward talent, Bains said that the Club’s recruiting team led by Recruiting Manager, Tony Elshaug, would assess the list and identify its remaining needs.

“Prior to the Rookie Draft we [recruiting team] will undertake a three stage process.”

“Firstly we will review the players which we selected in the National Draft, identify any remaining list needs and then analyse the remaining draft pool,” said Bains.

Bains outlined that there was plenty for Saints fans to be excited about heading into 2012.

“We are excited with our selections in the National Draft and are confident that we can secure some quality players, who we have been following closely, with the four allocated picks in the Rookie Draft.”

While the Saints Recruiting Team will be scouring the remaining talent pool with a fine tooth-comb over the coming days, Bains also highlighted that the Club was encouraged by the development of its four existing Rookies.

“Tom Curren, Daniel Archer, Jackson Ferguson and Warrick Andreoli are all really exciting prospects. We are impressed by their progress and feel they can develop into important players for this Football Club.”

The AFL is due to release the Rookie Draft pick allocations over the coming days.
