A total of 1,111 men have played just a single game of League football.

Adrian Young was one of those who made it to the top level for just a single occasion, but he was a part of the Saints family.

Adrian “Yogga” Young passed away at his home in Tasmania on August 12 at the age of 77.

Recruited from Burnie, he played his sole match on the wing against Footscray in 1964 at the Western Oval.

He returned home to Burnie in 1965 and represented Tasmania in a match against the VFA that year. However he later badly injured his knee, splitting the cartilage and despite many attempts to come back, he never played football again. It was his ambition to play in the 1966 Interstate Carnival in his home state.

Many years later he admitted to being so disillusioned by his injury that he never returned to a football oval ever after, and only watched the game on TV.

We send our commiserations to his family.
