Darragh Joyce and Oscar Clavarino will remain Saints for Season 2021, with the duo signing rookie contracts today.

In line with the new rules introduced by the AFL overnight, clubs are able to move two senior players to their rookie list immediately without needing to wait until the NAB AFL Rookie Draft.

“There have been some incredibly hard decisions we’ve been forced to make this season, but we’re glad to be able to retain Darragh and Oscar for next season,” Head of List Management James Gallagher said.

We believe Darragh’s voice and ability to play both ends, as well as Oscar’s intercept work, are qualities that will benefit our list moving forward.

Joyce has played five senior games since arriving at St Kilda as a Category B Rookie, while Clavarino is yet to debut after being taken at pick No. 35 in the 2017 National Draft.

The pair joins Callum Wilkie and recently re-signed ruckman Sam Alabakis (Category B) on the Saints’ rookie list.
