St Kilda remains on the hunt for its first win of the VBFL (Victorian Blind Football League) season following last Saturday’s lot of matches.

The Saints came close to ousting Hawthorn after hitting a three-goal lead early in the game, before being overrun by the Bulldogs and Bombers later in the day.

Injuries to Travis Zimmer (quad), Shannon Jones (quad) and Ingrid McKenna (ankle) left no rotations for the final match against the top-of-the-table Bombers, whose fast movement was telling in the comprehensive result.

St Kilda will have one more chance to put four points to its name in this Saturday’s Preliminary Final.

Kadek Artayana and Brendan Spencer battled well across all three clashes, with both players hitting the scoreboard and even moving into defence as injury swept through the ranks.

New Saint Will Kelly also stood tall, with his agility proving to be a highlight of the day.

This year’s four-team VBFL competition sees four teams – St Kilda (AFL), Hawthorn (AFL), the Bulldogs and Bombers – competing across 27 matches, with over 40 players who identify as living with blindness or low vision taking part.

St Kilda will play its Preliminary Final this coming Saturday morning at Action Indoor Sports Tullamarine, with the match to be live-streamed at 10:00am on the AFL Inclusion and VBFL websites.
