The Zebras went down to Richmond last Saturday at the Swinburne Centre by 40 points, with Jake Batchelor’s side unable to match the reigning Premiers' forward-half pressure.

Shaun McKernan stood tall with four goals, 23 disposals and 10 marks, along with vice-captain Goy Lok, who snared 20 disposals to go complement with his nine tackles and one major.

Young Saint Ryan Byrnes (20 disposals, eight marks, one goal) made a successful return from a hamstring injury suffered in February, while Oscar Clavarino and Darragh Joyce spearheaded the defensive unit.

Opposition watch

Port Melbourne found themselves on the wrong side of the ledger against Aspley, falling by 53 points to their Queensland-based opposition.

Aspley is a newcomer to the revised VFL competition in 2021, which features 22 teams from Victoria, NSW and Queensland.

Southern Saints

The Southern Saints will eye off another opportunity to burrow their way further into the top six as they take on the Western Bulldogs at Victoria University Whitten Oval on Friday night.

Currently sitting at 6th, the Saints will play the 8th placed Dogs in the opener to round 8.
