Round 2 recap

The Saints ground out a gritty win against Hawthorn last Sunday, with the back-and-forth contest ending in a 12-point victory for Dale Robinson’s side.

Alice Burke continued her fine run of form with 21 disposals and five tackles, while Claudia Whitfort grabbed 19 touches herself after putting through the first goal of the game in the opening minute.

Hannah Priest (16 disposals) and Tahlia Meyer (13 disposals) were also integral to the Saints' win, while Renee Saulitis (14 disposals, one goal) and a two-goal blitz from Tara Bohanna took the result away from the fast-finishing Hawks.

The victory puts them a game clear inside the top six, with another win this week against an in-form Port Melbourne allowing them to further entrench their position on the ladder.

Opposition Watch

Port Melbourne are in some touch, having only dropped one game for the whole year.

The Borough were challenged on the weekend by a plucky Darebin Falcons side, before four goals from Emily Harley and 20-disposal displays from Sophie Molan and Courtney Bromage snuffed out the spirited resistance.
