With the excitement building around Max King during Season 2019, an untimely ankle injury on the cusp of senior selection cruelly spelled an end for the prospective forward’s season.
The key forward had booted 11 goals from his five VFL outings after returning from a serious ACL injury, with his freakish aerial ability, lethal kick and agility at ground level on full display.
Now that 2020 has arrived, King has delivered on all fronts to meet external, lofty expectations.
King made his debut to the sounds of an empty stadium in Round 1 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, booting two goals to usher in a new era for the No. 12.
The young Saint's tremendous aerial work, contested clunks and superb right foot have delighted week after week, seeing him top the club's contested marks count and sit second in the goalkicking tally behind Dan Butler.
King has slotted multiple goals on six occasions, with a three-goal performance against Essendon earning him the NAB Rising Star nomination for Round 12.
King was selected by St Kilda with pick No. 4 in the 2018 National Draft.
