St Kilda Football Club has today finalised a trade with the Gold Coast Suns regarding Ben Long.

In exchange for Long’s services and a future fourth round pick, St Kilda has received pick 32.

“While we’re really disappointed to lose Ben, he leaves with our support and best wishes. We’d have loved him to stay at RSEA Park, but ultimately he has an opportunity at the Gold Coast that is too good to refuse," Head of List Management James Gallagher said.

“We’ve been very clear in our intention to head into this year’s draft with a good hand of picks in the first couple of rounds and this trade assists us with that.”

Long joined the Saints with pick 25 in the 2016 National Draft, going on to play 79 games in the red, white and black.

“Ben was a popular player throughout his time with the Saints, always proudly representing his family and culture,” Gallagher said.

“We thank Ben for his services to the club over the past six years and wish him all the best at the Suns.”

Following this trade, St Kilda currently holds picks 9, 28, 32, 47.
