St Kilda Football Club has launched its official 150th anniversary campaign, celebrating the unheralded legends of the Saints – the fans!

Through thick and thin, the Saints faithful have stood by the red, white and black since its inception in 1873, seeing the club reach this year’s historic milestone.

The campaign features on-field heroes including premiership player Ross Smith, club legends Nathan Burke and Robert Harvey, as well as current-day players Tim Membrey, Hannah Priest, Alice Burke, and Rowan Marshall.

“There is no doubt that Saints fans are the most loyal in the league,” Chief Executive Officer Simon Lethlean said.

“For 150 years now, they have proven to be the backbone of our club, staying steadfast through all the ups and downs a sporting organisation could ever imagine.

“Heading into our 150th year, it was important for us to ensure that our fans were at the forefront of this important occasion, not only in this campaign video, but throughout all of our activities across 2023.”

The centrepiece of the Saints’ celebrations will be the 150th anniversary game at the MCG in Round 3 against Essendon, nearly 150 years to the day of the club’s formation. Past, present and future will unite at the home of football, honouring those who have come before and heralding the exciting future that is yet to come.

“Round 3 will be a huge event and is one Saints fans simply will not want to miss,” Lethlean said.

“Our Hall of Fame event will be held at the ‘G on the same night, leading into a spectacular pre-game ceremony championing all those who have truly embodied what it means to be a Saint.

“So, whether you’ve supported the Saints for a long time or you’re fresh to the family, we hope to paint the ‘G red, white and black for a very special night in our club’s history and we implore you to come along, bring a friend or family member and help us celebrate the occasion.”
