St Kilda has added to its busy AFLW Sign & Trade Period, bringing in Carlton defender Natalie Plane after completing a three-way trade with the Blues and Tigers.

The move sees Plane and pick No. 14 arrive at RSEA Park, while Caitlin Greiser joins Richmond after requesting a trade.

A proud Kamilaori woman, the reliable half-back represented Carlton across 36 matches, making her debut in the inaugural AFLW match in 2017.

“I’m really grateful for this new opportunity at the Saints and can’t wait to get started,” Plane said.

“I loved my time at the Blues, but I really felt like this was the right time for me to have a fresh start.

All the staff and players I’ve met so far at the Saints have been great, and I can’t wait to get stuck into training.

The latest trade follows the Saints’ blockbuster arrival of seven-time Collingwood captain Steph Chiocci and two-time All-Australian Jaimee Lambert.

“We’re very pleased to welcome Natalie to St Kilda,” Head of AFLW Tessie McManus said.

“Natalie’s experience will be a great asset to our playing group, with the way she drives elite standards and pushes her teammates to do the same.

“During this sign and trade period, our focus has been on recruiting players who complement our current playing list. We believe Natalie is a player who can contribute to a variety of roles both on and off the field.

“We look forward to seeing Natalie in her new colours and wish her all the best during her time at the Saints.”
