VFL MATCH CENTRE: Round 8 v Werribee
SANDRINGHAM 1.2 4.4 6.5 9.7 (61)
WERRIBEE 4.3 11.4 12.8 17.10 (112)
Max Heath
19 disposals, 35 hitouts, seven tackles, six inside 50's, seven intercepts, one goal
Had a strong game in the ruck and around the ground. Took a lot of marks and was a big reason why we won the stoppages on the day giving our midfielders first use of the footy.
Zak Jones
39 disposals, seven tackles, nine clearances, seven inside 50's
Had another good game, picking up a lot of possessions and competing well in the contest. Lead from the front in terms of driving the young players.
Hunter Clark
27 disposals, 11 tackles, six clearances, one goal
Really strong in the contest with a high number of possessions, tackles and clearances. His stoppage wins didn’t quite transition into scoring but gave us every opportunity along with Zak (Jones).
Hugh Boxshall
30 disposals, seven tackles, nine clearances, one goal
Came back into the side and resumed his high ball-winning capabilities. A few times he would have preferred to be cleaner with his hands but was again strong in the contest.
Alex Dodson
18 disposals, 15 hitouts, five marks
Alex’s best game so far in the VFL. Has been working hard on his contest work and showed a lot of improvement in that area on the weekend. Was strong in the ruck when needed and produced some good forward patterns which was really pleasing.
Angus Hastie
23 disposals, four inside 50's, three marks
Got a lot of the ball playing as the highest defender and provided lots of drive from the backline. Still developing in that role and working on ways to contribute.
Isaac Keeler
15 disposals, eight marks, five intercepts
Had a change of role this week and was moved to the backline to help out down there and took a few nice intercept marks. At times his man got off him a little bit but he’s developing in that space.
Liam Henry
16 disposals, five tackles, four clearances
Moved quite well and reminded us of what he is capable of. He’s still getting back to full fitness and run but we feel like he’s turned the corner in that space and provided nice ball use and laid good tackles.
Jack Carroll
16 disposals, five tackles, four clearances
Played a combination of inside midfield and high half forward. Had a quiet first half but got going in the second half and we’re looking to see more drive out of the contest with his power.
James Barrat
Nine disposals, four marks, five intercepts
Will come away from Sunday with a lot of learning after he was under siege in transition on a tough day. His man was able to get off him a few times but didn’t give up and fought through to the end.
Dan Butler
Three disposals, two contested marks, two goals
Had a quiet day by his standards after being played really closely by his direct opponent. Was able to pop up late and get two goals which was pleasing to see.
Patrick Said
Four disposals, two tackles
Was playing on reduced minutes in his return from injury for the first time in over a month. Had a tough game at half forward but ran out the game and never gave up which was encouraging.
