Key midfielder Georgia Patrikios is back with a clean bill of health after missing the entire 2024 season with a foot injury. The inaugural Saint is primed to make her official return in Round 1 this Sunday, marking 651 days since the emerging leader last played an official AFLW game.
Rebecca Ott is also back to full fitness and poised to play a key role in the squad this year after spending a significant time on the sidelines in 2024.
“It’s been great to see both Bec and Georgia get full pre-seasons and solid game minutes under their belts heading into this season,” GM of AFLW Jessie Mulholland said.
“Rehab is never an easy place to be. We’re incredibly proud of their resilience and can’t wait to see them back out on the park this season.”
Fans will have to wait to see star recruit, Nicola Barr run out in the red, white and black with former Giant set to miss Round 1 with foot soreness.
“Nic was showing some signs of pain last week. Given the short timings of the season, we’ve chosen to take a conservative approach, with the aim to see her ready for Round 2,” Mulholland said.
Another 2024 trade acquisition, Alana Gee, has been showing positive signs as she progresses through the final months of her ACL rehabilitation and is expected to be available for selection later in the season.
Emmelie Fiedler is also continuing to work through the early stages of her respective ACL rehabilitation after sustaining the season ending injury while playing for Sandringham in Round 1 of the VFLW.
Meanwhile, Hannah Stuart, Charlotte Simpson, Olivia Vesely and Nicola Xenos are all positives progressing well through their respective rehabilitation programs.
