St Kilda star Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera joined afl.com.au and NITV's 'Inside the Huddle' to discuss his stellar season and more.
Q: How is your off-season going?
Nas: I’ve been working out at the club, just finished my rehab.
I went to the Grand Final - I grew up with Duds (Isaiah Dudley). It was one of the great games I’ve been to.
Q: How do you reflect on the Saints’ 2026 season?
Nas: It was pretty disappointing to finish the year like that.
We had a new midfield this group this year, our first year together, so we were pretty young in there building that connection with each other. I thought that grew as the year went on.
We probably couldn’t get our best side out there most weeks and had some up-and-down games where we cost ourselves with a quarter or two not playing our way, which let us down.
It’s something we’ll be looking to improve mentally, playing that full 120 minutes.
Q: How did it feel to be named All-Australian for the second year in a row?
Nas: It was a privilege to be in the All-Australian team. To be honest I was a bit surprised - I missed seven games if you count the Carlton one.
It was special being in there with Shai (Bolton), Jarman (Impey), Wayne (Milera), and Kozzie (Pickett). It was special to share it with them - they’re stars of the AFL. I was humbled.
Q: How has your game grown this year?
Nas: With a lot of attention that came this year… Ross and the coaches helped me with how to break tags. It works both ways - sometimes depending on how the game is going, I can go down forward, stay in the midfield, or play as a forward that comes up and disrupts the opposition’s set up. It’s something we speak about week-to-week.
I’ve done a lot of work with the young players in there like Max Hall and Darcy Wilson too. They allow me to play with a bit of freedom.
