Russell Caplan joined the Saints board in 2013. He is Chairman of the Melbourne and Olympic Parks Trust, Chairman of Horizon Roads Pty Ltd, a Director of rail freight company Aurizon Ltd and is a board member of the Australian Cancer Research Foundation.

He had a 42 year executive career with the Shell Oil Company in Europe, the USA and Australia, retiring as Chairman of Shell in Australia in 2010.

Russell was formerly Chairman of Orica Ltd, Chairman of the Australian Institute of Petroleum, Chairman of the Cooperative Research Centre for Contamination Assessment and Remediation of the Environment and a Director of Woodside Petroleum Ltd.

Wherever Russell has been in the world, he has always passionately followed the St Kilda Football Club.
