The 19-year-old worked hard in the gym over the pre-season to eradicate a persistent shin splint complaint, and it appears the hard work has paid off with Siposs set to play his first game of the 2012 season in tonight’s clash against Hawthorn.
The talented forward has consistently improved throughout his five games with VFL affiliate side Sandringham, topped off with a 22 possession, 2 goal performance against Collingwood at the weekend.
“Performing like Arryn did on the weekend, it was hard to ignore him when it came to the selection table,” Saints’ Assistant Coach Adam Kingsley said.
“He had 9 tackles, 7 rebound 50s and 5 inside 50s, so he was really good on both sides of the ball which we were really happy with,” Kingsley added.
The second year player, who has been a staunch Saints supporter all his life, will come up against a Hawthorn side looking to rebound from a disappointing loss to Sydney in Launceston last week. Siposs may prove a potential headache for the Hawks defenders according to Kingsley.
“He’s a difficult match-up because he’s 6 ft 2, so it takes someone who can defend in the air as well as on the ground. He is a very good kick, so if he gets the ball he’s going to hurt them”.
