St Kilda will give forward Tim Membrey every chance to overcome a fractured finger and take his place against the Hawks in Sunday’s must-win clash.

Membrey underwent surgery on Monday to repair damage incurred in Saturday night’s loss to Melbourne but remains a chance to take on the Hawks.

The key big man booted an important goal late to give the Saints hope of pinching an all-important victory in Alice Springs, before scans on Sunday indicated the need for surgery.

While the Saints remain hopeful he can take his place, the club expects the 26-year-old to miss just one match if he isn’t able to prove his fitness this week.

Membrey has kicked 16 goals to date as part of a new-look forward line alongside the likes of Max King and Dan Butler.
