St Kilda will be without young midfielders Hugo Garcia and Darcy Wilson this week with the pair ruled out of Sunday’s clash against Melbourne.
Garcia is expected to be sidelined for 2-3 weeks with scans revealing the 2025 rising star nominee suffered a hairline fracture in his wrist, sustained late in the Round 18 match against Sydney.
Wilson has entered concussion protocols after reporting mild symptoms post-game on Sunday. The 19-year-old was subbed out in the second half against the Cats and will not be eligible for selection.
Small forward Dan Butler has been officially ruled out for remainder of the 2025 season after undergoing elbow surgery last Thursday.
The 29-year-old was subbed out of the Round 18 clash with Sydney just before half-time, having suffered a dislocated elbow in the final moments of the second quarter.
“Consultation with the specialist confirmed significant damage to the joint, requiring extensive surgery that will unfortunately sideline Dan for the final five games of the season,” EGM Football David Misson said.
Promisingly, Mattaes Phillipou, Dougal Howard and Jack Carroll are all tracking well in their respective recoveries with the trio progressing towards a round 21 return to face North Melbourne in the Saints final home game of 2025.
