Greats of the game and the wider sporting landscape will come together for the inaugural Spud’s Game Curtain Raiser ahead of the third annual Spud’s Game: A Match for Mental Health.
Presented by Webcentral, the event will be held at 7.20pm before AFL team run out on Friday 23 June, with highlights a plenty on the horizon.
Names including Brendon Goddard, Majak Daw, Dylan Buckley, Dan Gorringe and Ben Dixon headline the footy talent, while Sharni Norder, Ryan Broekhoff and Archie Thompson will represent some cross-code collaboration.
St Kilda Chief Executive Officer Simon Lethlean said the match was one not to be missed.
“Spud’s Game is already a key fixture on the Saints’ calendar, and this curtain raiser will only add to what I’m sure will be a great night raising much needed funds for the Danny Frawley Centre,” Lethlean said.
“With the curtain raiser bounce scheduled for 7.20pm, we encourage everyone to be in their seats nice and early as to not miss a minute of the action.
“We’ll make sure to have the ice baths ready at the Danny Frawley Centre for what we can only assume will be a few sore bodies, all in the spirit of a great cause.”

In its first year of operation, the Danny Frawley Centre has delivered 200+ mental health programs to the community, reaching over 8,000 people across Victoria.
Having recently opened stage two of the centre, the site now comprises a 25m lap pool, hydrotherapy pool, recovery centre, yoga and pilates rooms, a community gym and consulting suites for mental health practitioners and workshop delivery. In addition, DFC Psychology is set to launch in the coming months.
The past two iterations of Spud’s Game has raised a combined total of just over $1 million, with this year’s game again aiming to raise funds for various programs and initiatives run at the Danny Frawley Centre.
“We still have a number of faces yet to be revealed, so we encourage everyone to keep an eye out for those announcements,” Lethlean said.
