Zak Jones will spend a minimum of eight weeks on the sidelines after scans confirmed a rupture in his right quad.

The 26-year-old sustained the injury during yesterday’s training session and has undergone tendon repair surgery this afternoon.

Jones will commence his rehabilitation in the coming days and will aim to return to the senior line-up as soon as possible.

“It’s a significant blow to lose Zak for quite some time,” Chief Operating Officer Simon Lethlean said.

“Zak is an integral part of our midfield and he really started to hit his straps this past fortnight against Hawthorn and Gold Coast.

“We look forward to watching some of our young mids step up in his absence.”
