When and where is the game being played?

St Kilda v Port Adelaide
Sunday 2 June, 2019
Afternoon timeslot (exact time TBC)
Adelaide Arena at Jiangwan Stadium
Shanghai, China

Why are we playing this game in Shanghai?

The opportunity to play in China will significantly strengthen the club on so many levels.

When you combine the partnerships we have negotiated with the AFL, Port Adelaide and the Victorian Government, the benefits of playing in China were overwhelming.

The backing of our players and coaches, the ability to immediately financially invest into our football program and the potential for short, medium and long-term commercial growth makes playing in China a very attractive proposition.

Are there any travel packages we can purchase with access to tickets or corporate hospitality?

Travel packages including match day hospitality and tickets are available now through one of the official Shanghai 2019 travel partners.

Please visit shanghai2019.com.au to book or make enquiries about ticketing and travel options

Tickets will be sold exclusively through these partners up until early 2019. At that point, any remaining tickets will be offered in a final ticket on-sale to those who have pre-registered. The only way to guarantee a ticket to the game until that date is through the official Shanghai 2019 travel partners.

I’m a St Kilda member, how do I access tickets without buying a full travel package to the game in Shanghai?

All St Kilda members wanting to purchase tickets to the Shanghai game should visit shanghai2019.com.au and register their details. This will give you access to a pre-sale to purchase tickets in early 2019, providing ticketing has not been exhausted by the official Shanghai 2019 travel partners.

We expect high demand for attendance at the game and are expecting it to sell out. We recommend getting in early and booking your ticketing through the approved Shanghai 2019 travel partners as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

How do non-members access tickets to the game in Shanghai?

All non-members wanting to purchase tickets to the Shanghai game should visit shanghai2019.com.au This will give you access to a pre-sale to purchase tickets in early 2019, providing ticketing has not been exhausted by the official Shanghai 2019 travel partners.

As a member wanting to travel over to the game, will tickets be free/discounted as it’s a home game?

Unfortunately, no. Given the commercial and logistical challenges of staging a match in China, we are not in a position to offer members free or discounted access. Adult tickets will be available from as little as $20.

By taking part in the Shanghai game, does this mean we’ll have one less home game in 2019? What does this mean for my membership?

In 2019, we will play 10 home games at Marvel (formerly Etihad) Stadium, as opposed to the regular 11 home games.

To make up for this, we will be working with one of our co-tenant clubs at Marvel Stadium to come to an agreement around a replacement game, which will allow St Kilda members to scan into this replacement game free of charge.

When will our replacement game be and who will it be against?

As soon as we receive the fixture with the AFL, we will immediately begin the process of negotiating with a Marvel Stadium co-tenant to arrange the replacement game. We would expect to be able to announce this before Christmas.

I am a home member with Reserved/Goal Zone/Premium Bay Seats – will I get access to similar seats for this ‘replacement home game’?

We will be working with the nominated opposition club to secure additional seating inventory, so that we can offer members a comparable level of seating, e.g. reserve seat holders on level one having access to level one seating at our replacement game.

However, we will not be in a position to offer reserve seat members their exact same seat for the replacement game.

I am a home-and-away member. I already get access to the ‘replacement home game’…why am I still paying the same as I did last year?

The away component of your membership is currently priced at the cost of four away games. We have had this in place since our games in New Zealand to compensate for that, and this has not increased since.

What does this mean for our involvement in New Zealand?

The Saints played three games in Wellington from 2013-2015 before redirecting their focus to the country’s biggest city – Auckland.

The reality is that if New Zealand is to work, then a suitable venue in Auckland is required.

Despite ongoing dialogue over the past two years, it’s apparent that a home for AFL matches in Auckland is still some years away, but we will continue to support their plans in conjunction with the League.

Are the football department, including the playing group, supportive of playing this game in China? Are there any concerns about this affecting our football performance?

Our very first consideration when looking at playing in China was the potential impact on the football department. But from Simon Lethlean to Alan Richardson and the playing group, the entire department is very supportive of the match and see it as an opportunity to bring the group closer together.

The reality of the partnerships we have entered into with Port Adelaide, the AFL and the Victorian Government is that we will be in a position to increase the financial investment in the football program.

How will the extra travel impact the team?

The Saints’ mid-season bye will directly follow the match in China, while both the Power and the Saints are likely to have a similar lead-in to the match.

Why is this our home game?

Every club is provided with 11 home games. Many clubs utilise one or more of these to play in a different location (e.g. Melbourne in the Northern Territory). Through this arrangement, the Saints will pass on some rights of one home game to Port Adelaide.

Will there be open training?

Yes, we have every intention of holding an open training session in Shanghai. Further information on this will be communicated closer to the game.
